General Daily Hair Care Tips and Tricks for Dry Hair

images (8)

Keeping your hair healthy, shiny, silky, strong and preventing or reducing dryness, takes paying great attention to your daily hair care routine.

1. Avoid harsh shampoos and chemicals that can damage and dry out your hair.

2. Do not shampoo too often. It causes hair dryness. Having dry, thick hair means only having to wash about every 3 days.

3. When you wash and massage your hair, don’t do it with your nails, but use your fingertips. Nails will irritate your scalp and cause your hair to break.

4. Condition your hair regularly. A good conditioner for dry hair will nourish and moisturize your hair and protect it from splitting.

5. Trim off split ends to prevent them from spreading up the hair strand.

6. Allow your hair to dry naturally as often as you can.

7. Chlorinated water can be extremely harmful for your hair and cause it to become very dry hair. Never swim without a cap.

8. Always be gentle when brushing your hair. Try and use a wide mouth comb if possible.Natural bristle brushes are the best choice for dry and damaged hair.

9. Don’t overexpose your hair to sun, as it will dry it out. Wear a hat whenever you can or apply protective creams, lotions, and balms before exposure to the sun.

10. When choosing hair products, always try to use all natural products with no chemicals.

Tip Tuesday – 4th tip for shinny knott free hair

We are back for another Tip this week, so you have had a hard day at work and you want to settle down for a cold one. I don’t mean for drinking. Why not try a treatment using you guess it….BEER!

Beer is an excellent hair tonic as it adds body, shine, strength and vitality to your hair. This amazing beverage helps repair dry, dull, and damaged hair, while deeply nourishing hair follicles.

1. Wash your hair and while it’s still wet, use a spray bottle to spritz a small amount of beer all over your hair.

(Be careful your man or other men don’t try and jump in the shower with you! HAHA)

2. After blow drying, the smell of beer will disappear, leaving your hair sleek, smooth and glowing.

Shoot Me a comment below if you actually try this one out! Enjoy…

Plus I have been trying tick off my You Tube account, check out my channel and please provide support!

I am trying to get back into routine so here goes… Tip #2 this week is Hot Oil Treatment for Dry hair another fantastic home remedy that should cost very little, lets face it everyone has cooking oil however other oils that can be used include:

  • Coconut,
  • Olive,
  • Castor,
  • Almond
  • and even essential oils – lavender, rosemary, lemon, chamomile, geranium, sandalwood, rosewood, eucalyptus and mint essential oils. what ever you desire for a nice scent as well.

  1. All you need to do is heat up 4 tablespoons of your desired oil in a sauce pan to a WARM temp (be careful its not too hot!)
  2. I recommend you do this next step in the shower – massage the oil into your dry hair and scalp, covering as much as possible.
  3. Place a shower cap over your hair and wrap a towel (hot would be better.) over the top.
  4. Leave in for at least 20 minutes (if your in a rush) but ideally overnight.

Tip Tuesday – 1st tip for shinny knott free hair

This Tip Tuesday @ Me, Myself & I all things pretty, we wanted to touch on a topic for all men and woman out there.

Do you experience knotty or dry or frizzy hair from time to time, well I think most honest people would say “ahhh yes me!” and unless you are Jen Hawkins or Jen Anderson I am sure you are one of those!

So here are a few home, cheap remedies you might want to try:

  • Eggs  (preferably organic)

This option suits all people that have dry hair, here is a method you might like to try using:

  1. Crack open one to three eggs, depending on the length of your hair. Separate the yolk from the whites. Pour the yolk into a bowl and whisk until blended.
  2. Now add two tablespoons of oil; olive oil, coconut or even baby oil. Whisk together until blended.
  3. Add a couple of drops of essential oil if you want the fragrance.
  4. Now pour in one cup of lukewarm water into the mixture and whisk until mixed well. The water will help the mixture spread better in your hair.
  5. Now wash your hair with a mild shampoo and get as much water out of your hair.
  6. Put the egg mixture onto your hair and comb through. Let sit for five or ten minutes, depending on how dry and brittle your hair is.
  7. Now rinse out with warm water and style as usual.

Please note – DO NOT use hot warm only warm/cool water.

I plan to send other tips regarding this topic each tip Tuesday for 3 more weeks, stay tuned topics include:

  • Pure Virgin Olive Oil
  • Pure Lavender Essential Oil
  • Full-Fat Mayonnaise
  • Beer Treatment

Tip Tuesday – My Hot Tip this summer

Its that time of the week again… and its that time of the year again SUMMER TIME!

I love summer I really do, birds singing, beaches, tans, shorts, tees, Christmas and New Years…and Air Conditioning (if you have some!)

I love my little house, its close to my heart and I have worked hard for it BUT I don’t have air conditioning. January is always the month that summer lets you know its here.

So here are a few tricks and tips on how to stay cool without air conditioning (this is what we do anyway and it works well considering.)

  1. Block out the sunlight. Invest in blackout drapes or wooden shutters,
  2. Open windows/doors at night.
  3. Avoid cooking with the stove/oven – increases the room temp with the heat that comes from it (good in winter to stay warm!)
  4. Reverse your ceiling fans – perhaps its time to invest in some!
  5. Nature Helps! – plant trees around windows and walls that face the sun in the hottest part of the day.
  6. Ice air for less then the cost! – Get a bucket/bowl fill with water place in freezer let it freeze place in front of the fan.
  7. How to lower the humidity – By doing laundry, taking showers and running your dishwasher early in the morning.
  8. Less is more – Wear cool clothing even if its just your underwear (who cares your at home after all!) Wearing less will help promote you to be cooler.
  9. Drink Drink & Drink – Even suck on ice blocks, icey poles anything to help hydration!

I hope these tips help you get through this summers heat. That’s my HOT TIP 🙂 (sorry bad joke….)

Tip Tuesday – Unique cheap Cleaning Products

Its that time again, the tip for this week is related to cleaning and unique cleaning products.

Drum roll pleasewhite vinegar is cheap as chips and perfect pots and pans with stubborn hard to remove food stains. Simply ad one table spoon with two cups of water place on the stove until it boils. Remove then clean with no detergent – be aware it does have a strong smell, nothing dangerous!

Another thing you can use white vinegar for is to remove soap scum like from the shower screen for example.

Place one table spoon of vinegar and two cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Spray crazy over the shower screen and walls. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes then rub with damp cloth. Rinse and wipe dry….

Then have a nice relaxing shower – you deserve it after all that cleaning!

Tip Tuesday – Nail Polish Application

@ Me, Myself & I we love to share all our secrets including DIYs even though we are selling the products we make we don’t see the point in hiding anything. Especially “Hits & Tricks” (otherwise known as Hints and tips to the general community….)

In 2014 we wanted to take a new approach to this section on our blog by starting up a weekly post called ‘Tip Tuesday’ which will be saved in the “Hits & Tricks” section.

We plan to provide a short post on something that may be of use to some of you on different topics to do with makeup, art, DIY…

So for the 1st post for Tip Tuesday I would like to talk about applying nail polish. Now I don’t know about the rest of you but I find this the most annoying task in the world yet I enjoy the benefit of having my stubs looking uper fab!

I don’t know what it is but I find sitting there trying to make my nails look neat clean and lovely impossible its either one of two things:

1. I can’t sit still long enough to let it dry

2. I am super uncoordinated in applying nail polish!!!

Um all of the above! Most of the times my nails look like a ship wreck and require damage control with a heap of cotton buds and nail polish remover…

I have a tip I have been using glittered nail polish and my lordy it looking beautiful, I don’t spend hours with the strokes less then ten minutes later my nails look super cute. I still have to wait like the rest of the population however as I type this post I must admit I have the nail polish trying as we speak!!!

So basic tip but use glittered nail polish, I recommend the Face of Australia Brand – Glitterati nail enamel… I picked this up from Big W for like $3.00…

Hrmm I’m thinking I nailed this post… what do you think?? (Sorry bad joke but had to add it in!)

Tip 1 Getting Super Clue OFF Finger Tips

This is for all those crafty ones out there. Today I was completing my love/obsession with DIY and I got super glue on my finger tips 😦 OMG!

My lovely man advised that a little nail polish remover is perfect for breaking this down to the point it disappears! YAY!
